MLlib

by minishlink

The MLlib (or Minishlink's Library) is a simple library to develop on Nintendo Wii. Technically, it's a wrapper of libogc and others librairies. Coding with this lib on Wii is way easier now ! :-)

Some features :
- Proper code so that it's nice to see;
- Easy for all;
- Friendly functions;
- Handles drawing (lol);
- Sprite system;
- Handles PNG images, BMP soon;
- Write graphically text;
- MP3 system;
- MOD system;
- Input (Wiimote, Nunchuk, and extensions...) system;
- And much more...

The character move around different planets. You can't fall down and die (contrary to Super Mario for example), you are constantly attracted by a planet ! And this is the same for your missiles and the other objects.

bugiin 1.0

by brunette_redhead

If you have ever played Mario Paint for the SNES, then you have probably played the Gnat Attack game (also known as Coffee Break). My game is a spinoff of this, created for the Wii. I took many creative liberties with it, including redoing all of the sound effects with my brother and my girlfriend, and switching up the game modes just a bit.

There are two main game modes, the "Classic" mode, which is level based much like the original. There is also a "Swarm" mode which features endless enemies.

zeRace 0.7

The purpose of this little car game is very simple : do the best time on each track.
It is inspired by the online game "Renault F1", as well as other free games like GeneRally and Trophy (I use some sounds from this game too).
Some tracks are those from the ICFP Programming Contest.
zeRace is coded in C and uses the SDL library.

Controls (hold the controller horizontally):
•In the menu:
◦up/down: select menu entry
◦A/left/right: enter menu/change value
◦home: exit menu/exit game
•In the game:
◦left/right: steer
◦1/down: brake
◦2/up: throttle
◦home: exit race
Known issues:
•No sound (not a big deal since it is boring anyway).
•Network/Internet mode not working (SDL_net on the Wii not working with UDP yet?).

OpenTyrianWii 1.1.2

by Molokai

This game is a port of OpenTyrian, based on the DOS sourcecode of the game Tyrian for MSDOS. OpenTyrian is an open source project built around the SDL library. This port uses Tantric's SDL port as its base.

Tyrian is an arcade-style vertical scrolling shooter. The player controls a space ship fitted with different weapons and enhanced energy shields. Money is earned by destroying enemies and grabbing bonuses, which is then used to purchase upgrades such as weapons, shields, energy generators, and different ships from interlevel menus. The game is fast paced and presents a variety of enemies and bosses.

TO INSTALL
==========
Copy the contents of archive to the root of your SD card. You don't have to copy this readme. Make sure that your apps folder contains OpenTyrianWii, and a tyrian folder resides on the root of your card.

CHANGELOG v1.1.2
================
-All DPads now support bidirectional movement. This makes the GC pad much more viable as a controller to use in OpenTyrianWii.
-Fix confirmed for the CC DPad bug. It now only functions as a DPad.
-Unconfirmed fix for HBC 1.0.2 and up (I tested it on my Wii with 1.0.3 and it worked).
-Because of a bug in the joystick saving function, I have temporarily disabled it. -Details in Controls.
-As a note, turning the volume down on the sfx seems to diminish the popping in the audio, but only slightly. Still looking into a proper resampling.
-Also, don't change the scaler to anything but scale2x. 2x is now a testing ground for the 640x480 upscale, and is unstable.

OpenTyrianWii 1.1.1

TO INSTALL
==========
Copy the contents of archive to the root of your SD card. You don't have to copy this readme. Make sure that your apps folder contains OpenTyrianWii, and a tyrian folder resides on the root of your card.

CHANGELOG v1.1.1
================
-Wiimote horizontal mode now enabled!!!
-In order to make button reassignments (from defaults), select the Fire button and press the button you wish to use for Fire/Select (probably 1 or 2). From there, have fun (Controls on my Wiibrew page should be sufficient to help guide you through that).
-GC pad and Classic Controller DPads are now enabled as well, which means GameCube pad support is now 95% functional (still need to get the joysticks working).
-After this, I will probably hold my updates and group them up more. But this should allow for as much freedom in the gaming you wish to have.
-As a side note, SDL is misidentifying the Classic D-left as the Nunchuck C button (at the same time it's used as a DPad), and the version I used to build this version also misidentified Classic D-up as the Nunchuck Z button. Just be aware of this when playing with the CC (in other words, use the joystick for now). The next release will have these fixed.
-Also, the Wiimote's DPad only works if the classic controller is unplugged. I guess the CC's DPad supersedes the Wiimote's when it is plugged in.

CHANGELOG v1.1.0
================
-Fixed sound bug from exit exception fix.
-Fixed joystick configuration. Wiimote+nunchuk and Classic Controller are now fully configurable!!! Details in Controls.
-Disabled mouse support (until SDL Wii is fixed with a solution for Wiimote dual functioning as mouse and joystick).
-All userdata moved to tyrian/userdata. For those with versions earlier than 1.1.0, just move your tyrian.cfg and tyrian.sav files to tyrian/userdata. The next time you -exit, joystick.cfg will show up there as well.
-Button crashes are not confirmed to be fixed, but so far, I have not had any problems since I disabled the mouse functionality.
-Whatever you do, do not use the GameCube pad yet. It will override (for some reason) the wiimote functionality, and as the GC pad joystick is not functioning yet, you can't navigate or change anything. I will work on a fix for this later.

CombatWii 0.1

by Spiffin

A game based on the old Atari tank shoot-em up game Combat. The Wii version is actually a semi-port of a PC game me and 2 other university students developed as a software project back in 2001. The game was programmed in C++ and utilized the following two libraries; Allegro (gamedev lib), Libnet (network lib). The game worked out pretty well and we had alot fun developing it. The final version (only version to be released) included 4 different game types; Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Panic & Run For It!. It also included 6 different weapons; Machine gun, Rocket launcher, Laser cannon, Grenade launcher, Mine layer/sweeper and Freeze cannon. Not all weapons were available from start, instead you had to hunt down bonus boxes, aka Pick-ups, that randomly appeared on the map. These pickups did not just contain new weapons, they could also be power-ups that gave more health, increased your speed, increased detail level on radar, etc, so your primary goal was not always to kill your opponents, but instead to hunt down these bonuses. In the 2 latter game types two special objects were used: Flag; An object you strived to grab and hold on to, and Bomb; An object to tried to stay away from. The game was a multi direction scroller with quite large maps. Only one player could play on the same screen, so network play was a must if you wanted to play against others. To give the player a good overview of what was happening on the map (maps were often 2-3 times larger than the screen) a radar was located on the players sidebar (HUD), where also the players health and score were shown.

libwiigui 1.03

by Tantric
libwiigui is a GUI library for the Wii, created to help structure the
design of a complicated GUI interface, and to enable an author to create
a sophisticated, feature-rich GUI. It was originally conceived and written
after I started to design a GUI for Snes9x GX, and found libwiisprite and
GRRLIB inadequate for the purpose. It uses GX for drawing, and makes use
of PNGU for displaying images and FreeTypeGX for text. It was designed to
be flexible and is easy to modify - don't be afraid to change the way it
works or expand it to suit your GUI's purposes! If you do, and you think
your changes might benefit others, please share them so they might be
added to the project!

Quickstart

WiiBuilder 1.2

by Crayon

WiiBuilder 1.2 is a Windows software to use for Wii homebrew development.

The File tab is use to:
-Convert Portable Network Graphics (.png) and JPEG images (.jpg or .jpeg) to C array in header file (.h), works with GRRLIB 3.0 and libwiisprite
Convert Images (.gif or .bmp) to header file (.h), works with GRRLIB 2.0 or less
-Convert XML (.xml), ByteMap Font (.bmf) and MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 (.mp3) to C array in header file (.h)
-Convert GRRLIB 2.0 (or less) screenshot (.grr) to Portable Network Graphics (.png)
-Load Wii executables files (.dol and .elf) from a computer to a Wii with the -Homebrew Channel, IP address must be entered in the Settings
-Compile Makefile to (.dol and .elf), you must have "make" available in your path

You just need to drop a file in the list box. If drag-and-drop is not working(Wine), you could simply right click on the list box to bring the popup menu. From the menu, select Add a File to the List..., in the Open dialog box you could select multiple files. If you don't want to open the software, just drag-and-drop files on the program icon. This is because the software accepts command line, just type WiiBuilder myfile.png. When the files are generated, they overwrite existing ones.

The Font Generator tab is used to generate a image (PNG or Bitmap) from a specific font on your system. PNG files will have the GRRLIB 3.0 format and Bitmap files will only work with GRRLIB 2.0 or less. Just select the font, size and style you need and click on the Generate Image button to open the Save As dialog box. The antialiasing option only works when you are saving a PNG file.

Q2Rev (Proof of Concept)

by Izhido

NOTE: This is only a Proof Of Concept, there will be many bugs, crashes etc.

A port of id Software's Quake II for the Nintendo Wii, straight from the source code at ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/source/quake2.zip

This is only a proof-of-concept release, nothing official. It's being actively developed; expect heavy changes before the final release.

It will likely crash after some minutes of play, due to unfinished memory-handling code. Still, for these minutes, it's fully playable; with sound & Wiimote support as can be experienced on Q1Rev.

Controls are similar to Q1Rev ones, with the exception of the "C" button on the Nunchuk controller, used now for crouching.

Any comments can be sent to heribertod@gmail.com

There are some minor graphical glitches, and the number of keys are limited on the Wii, but it is quite playable.

Harmonium 1 beta

by MetaFight

Harmonium is, to put it plainly, a musical doodling tool. The user can manipulate notes on a 16x16 grid to create melodies within a pentatonic scale. On top of this already addictive concept, you can bring things to life by enabling Conway's Game of Life!

It's not the easiest thing to explain, so just try it!

AnyTitle Deleter MOD v5

by Red Squirrel

AnyTitle Deleter is an application which allows you to completely delete (almost) any title on your Wii. This is useful as a space-freeing application, an informative application, and a paranoia tool. I also hope the source code will be helpful to others making tools for the Wii.

AnyTitle Deleter MOD is an unofficial mod by Red Squirrel of tona's AnyTitle Deleter. It keeps all original tona's AnyTitle Deleter functions but it allows the program to show the real names of titles instead of just ID numbers, making it easier to select which ones you actually want to delete.

CHANGELOG v5
=============
-Changed the database reading function: now it reads the database.txt file only ONE time (at program beginning). In this way it will not be loaded every time you access to titles list pages (increasing program's time and space efficiency).
-Added a function to read title names directly from NAND: it will be used ONLY when the title name is not found in database.txt (to limit NAND access time). Titles names found in this way (accessing to NAND) will be displayed in the list between square brackets (ex. [GH: World Tour]). WARNING: It works at 100% with all titles based on games (those with Rxx codes) but not all others titles allow the identification of their name by reading from NAND, so there will be yet titles unknown!
-If program uses the NAND to extract title name, it will add the found name to database.txt. In this way the number of readings from the NAND will be always lower.
-Added a function to download database.txt updates directly from your Wii, using network connection!
-Now the program will identify by itself if to return to loader (HBC) or to the System Menu (rebooting console).
-Added a function to backup only UNKNOWN titles to SD (press B after pressing 1 to backup ONLY unknown titles!)
-Re-updated application button configuration: now HOME to exit, 1 to backup all titles list, 1 and then B to backup only UNKNOWN titles and 2 to update database.txt using network connection.
